What we collect

ToastSmith collects three kinds of things today:

• The stories and answers you give during the speech interview, spoken or typed. They’re the raw material for your draft and nothing else.
• Basic analytics events, like which pages get visited, so we can see what’s working and what’s confusing. Analytics sees page views, never your stories.
• If you email [email protected], we keep the conversation so we can actually help you.

How your speech gets written

Drafts are written with Google’s Gemini API on its paid tier, where Google does not use what you send in to train or improve its models. That’s the reason we pay for it instead of using the free tier.

Your answers go to Gemini for exactly one purpose: writing and revising your speech. They’re not used to build advertising profiles, train anything, or do something clever in the background.

Voice recordings

If you answer out loud, the recording exists just long enough to be turned into text. The moment transcription finishes, the audio is deleted. We keep the words you said, never your voice. And if you’d rather not be recorded at all, you can type every answer instead.

Drafts you don’t purchase

A draft you don’t purchase is purged automatically after 30 days. If you want anything gone sooner, your draft or the answers behind it, email [email protected] and we’ll delete it.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode v2, Google’s mechanism for telling its tags what they’re allowed to store. The numbers answer questions like which role page people start from, not who you are.

If you’re in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, analytics consent is denied by default, so no analytics cookies are set there at all right now. A consent prompt for turning analytics on is on its way; until then you’re just a little more invisible to us, which is fair. Everywhere else, basic page analytics runs, and the site works the same either way.

Your choices

You can use the free flow without creating an account, you can type instead of speaking, and if you’re in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, analytics is simply off by default. If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, email [email protected] and it will be handled, by law and by inclination.

What we never do

We never sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not as an anonymized data set, not ever.

And your stories are never used to train any model, ours or anyone else’s. They have one job, your speech, and when that job is done they retire.

If this policy changes

The date at the top changes with it. We won’t quietly weaken anything; a real change gets said here, in plain English.
